Announcement: Change In The Housing System
Hello everyone! As you all know, it is required for characters to relinquish their free housing after five months and find someplace to live. The current housing system was designed to encourage characters to explore this new world rather than remain secluded in the starting location. Unfortunately, as more and more characters have moved out, this has resulted in direct interactions between characters becoming far more difficult.
As such, the five-months rule is abolished. Characters are free to stay in their housing indefinitely and will not be asked to move out. If you are a newcomer and your acceptance notice mentioned the five-month rule, please disregard it. Future acceptance notice will no longer make mention of it. Your character is still allowed to leave and get a house elsewhere if they so wish: it is however no longer an obligation, just an option.
Characters who have already moved out will all receive a notice about this and will be invited to return. It is entirely optional and there is no time limit on the invitation, so they can opt to return anytime. They can keep both their new housing and one in the Curti Center: it is up to your personal preference. For characters working in one of the cities, airships piloted by Curti Center employees will take them to their workplace and back to the Curti Center every day if they opt to keep their free house and live in it.
Furthermore, Native OCs will now also be automatically given a place to stay amongst the outworlders. ICly, it is due to a personal request from the Empress to the Curti Center staff. From now on, they will be treated equally to outworlders as far as housing is concerned. They can still keep what housing they had before: but they now also have a free housing in the Curti Center. In return, they will lose the right to use the basic dorms for employees they may have used so far.
Last but not least, houses can host more characters than the listed maximum, however there are no bedrooms of bed to accommodate them. While we will always place new characters in free spaces, you can opt to move in a house that has already reached the maximum if you and the current occupants all agree on it. It is then your responsibility to work around the lack of beds and bedrooms for everyone.
ICly, the reveal about Bahamut and the Heroes of Light has seen the Curti Center's funding grow exponentially: this is the official reason as to why those changes are now taking place.
Should you have any questions, ask them in the appropriate thread! Likewise, reply to the appropriate thread to get a housing assignment! They'll be randomized, with priority given to where your character once lived.
