So since I massively dropped the ball with the Darkness event, I'm just going to post a sum-up of the events of the event. Thanks to Amie for suggesting I do this!

So basically Elidibus used his High Summoning to summon a stronger version of Ifrit that the Heroes were forced to fight, though they had assistance from the Byblos. Defeating Ifrit caused Elidibus to pull out similar summonings for Shiva, and then Titan in turn, forcing you to deal with them while he hid behind the Eidolons. Each summoning however seemed to take more out of him physically (and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a brief moment where the Heroes could get some shots in at him in-between summonings).

After Titan was defeated, Elidibus' strength failed him and it looked like he'd be able to be captured, but at the last moment was spirited away by some unknown means. Elidibus' parting words implied this was the work of Zodiark, who he remained convinced had "chosen" him. As he had been marked by Tyzias' [Study] abilities, she was able to pick up that he re-appeared on the very outskirts of Cloud City, followed by him very quickly moving further away, seemingly via an airship he had prepared beforehand. Though Tyzias was able to follow sense his path, Elidibus seemed intent on putting as much possible distance between himself and the Heroes and eventually the trail went cold before Tyzias could properly follow up on it (sorry Doom).

Byblos also disappeared back into the darkness once Elidibus fled, muttering "on it goes, it continues, the chase", apparently intent on following Elidibus its own way, the reasons behind their vendetta or the nature of their conflict unresolved. Why a demon of Zodiark stood against someone who at the very least claimed Zodiark had chosen him and "whispered secrets in his ear" all his life and try to prevent him from claiming his master's power is currently unknown.

With those two out of the way, the Heroes were free to explore further in the temple where they found a portrait of Sephiroth similar to the ones in the previous Temples, as well as I'm sure a cryptic message of some sort (a mod can feel free to add that in). Needless to say, the expedition as a success but still left the Heroes with more questions than answers, and the knowledge of a threat still in play in the form of Elidibus and-possibly-the Byblos.
