Player Plot: Bizarre Bird Behavior! - Information and Plotting

Unknown forces have caused a shift in nature. Wild chocobos are flocking en masse into cities suddenly and for no quickly discernible reason. The rowdy flock make messes everywhere, cause traffic jams, violate noise ordinances, and eat any food in sight. The flock might be in the towns, but they’re far from tame.

Characters may choose to investigate why the chocobos are in the cities rather than in their natural habitats. Their search will lead them to find monsters patrolling the immediate surroundings of each affected city are aggressive beasts known as “chocobo eaters”. Adventurers may attempt to fight off the monsters, but it will take a concerted effort for them to succeed in permanently repelling the beasts. Oddly enough, the mastermind of the effort comes in the form of a mysterious gold chocobo (perhaps the first ever seen in Vaikuntha) who is bold enough and smart enough to recruit heroes and partner them up with battle-ready wild chocobos in order to fight off the encroaching monsters. With the beasts soundly beaten, everything will return to normal, and the chocobos may once again return to their natural habitats. Some grateful chocobos, however, may decide to remain with a hero that impressed them.

Characters will break into teams of three or be randomly assigned to teams of three if they so desire. Players must decide if they wish to take on an adult chocobo eater, which is a decidedly more difficult battle, or an adolescent chocobo eater, an easier battle for those who wish to help but don’t wish to put themselves in too much danger. Each team will be assigned one randomly generated chocobo. “Hard Mode” teams will get a chocobo of either “good” or “wonderful” rating (something that will come into play later with the implementation of chocobo breeding at the end of the event), and “Easy Mode” teams will get a chocobo of either “average” or “good” rating.

Additionally, characters in various cities may find themselves partnered with a chocobo with plumage of a different color who also has special adaptations. In the cities of Von Oktavia, Sparks Golsaucia, Safer Osu, and Nakagawa only plain yellow chocobos will be found. In addition to yellow chocobos, teams choosing “Hard Mode” in the following cities have the chance to be paired with chocobos of the following colors:

Royal City of Myste Aura - Green (Mountain chocobos)
Tark Varentain - White (Snow chocobos)
Lavode - Blue (River/Lake chocobos)
Arito - Brown (Desert/Savannah chocobos)
Ela Nhor Port - Black

Cities not listed anywhere above will not be part of the event.

Once the team has defeated their monster, the chocobo will show its appreciation with a gift of two gysahl greens (used for capturing future chocobo steeds) for each member of the team, and one member of each team may decide to keep the chocobo. If no one on the team chooses to keep the chocobo, it will return to the wild. One randomly selected team will be joined by the gold chocobo, and once the battle is over she will present them with an egg that will hatch in a month’s time into a randomly generated high-stat chocobo of a random color, though sadly not gold.

This event will run from May 2nd to May 8th. All participants will receive 50xp for their efforts. Further information on chocobo breeding will be released near the end of the event.

While wandering Lavode, your group is approached by the gold chocobo. She assesses your strength before pushing you toward a blue female chocobo. This chocobo will be a valuable member of your team and will fight and heal right alongside you and your party members. Team formed, you’ll be led by your companion bird out onto the field to face off against an adult chocobo eater (hard mode). Once the battle is won, this chocobo may also choose to remain with one party member. All party members will receive two gysahl greens as well for their victory.

Modded or unmodded:

We'd like a modded battle if there's still room (no worries, I know it's a lot), and the two girls are sharing custody (but we'll call it Makoto's).
