OOC Info: The Star Wars Vaikuntha Special
Crystals have fallen out of the Dream Width in a beautiful meteor shower and scattered all over the world! Due to their origins and mysterious properties, the Curti Center is interested in gathering as many as they can for researching purposes. To incentivize the public in helping out, O'aka has donated a few silver coupons to those top few who collect the most crystals. There's also a rumor that the one person (or more if there's a tie) who collects the most, wins something marvelous and mysterious~
The hunt for these crystals have taken storm across Vaikuntha and they're suddenly worth a lot. It's all anyone talks about anymore! The locals have gone crazy with it! If you weren't interested to begin with, surely the madness that is this new fad has sunk its teeth in. Besides, who knows what the crystals can actually do? Are they gifts? Curses? Dust collectors? Only one way to find out.
Characters have one week to gather as many as they can! Below is information on how to collect the 15 different crystals scattered across the world. Details and specifics will be at the bottom.
❄️ Snow Crystal - Hope's Peak ❄️
Some soldiers at Armstrong Fort have found a few crystals on their expeditions. They're now holding a challenge to see who the mightiest Heroes are. The challenge itself is a simple obstacle course near the base of Hope's Peak. Characters who get through the spider wall, rope climb, barrel roll, and wall run in less than two minutes will get a crystal.
This will depend on job stats and dice rolls. Remember that you can raise an active job's stats with your passive job.
🔎 Shadow Crystal - Rosey Industrial Site 🔎
In the dense, smog covered alleys of the Rosey Industrial Site is the shadow crystal. Unfortunately, we weren't kidding when we said it was dense and smoggy. Characters are going to have to navigate the maze of alleyways to find the exit and the crystal.
You can choose left, right, or center, but what's down those paths will be decided by RNG. Could be something to help you find the crystal! Could be a monster ready to prematurely end your quest. These fights won't be too difficult, at least.
🔥 Flame Crystal - Nakagawa? 🔥
Wouldn't you know it, a bunch of crystals landed right in Finn's backyard. He'd been a little confused about what to do with them, but Valli and BB-8 weren't confused at all. The two have taken off alone on an epic quest to uncover more crystals before the Heroes can find them. And Finn is worried sick! They didn't even leave a note! In his panic, he decides to stay home and pace a trench into the floor in case the two decide to come back, but any Hero that brings them home gets a crystal and Finn's undying gratitude.
BB-8 and Valli will appear in random areas to random people throughout the event. Every time you tag into a quest, you'll have a 10% chance to find them. The only place they won't appear is at the Nah Nami Reserve. Depending on choices the characters make when/if they spy them, they can nab the moogle and droid to return them to Finn. You can also continue the original quest once you've run into them.
🌼 Flower Crystal - Nah Nami Reserve 🌼
Six crystals have appeared across the Reserve, and workers have plotted a way to make this work in their favor. That's right, the Nah Nami Reserve is holding their first ever Charity Drive! Donate what you can to help out the animals and workers here. Anyone who donates more than 50 gil will have their name put into a hat for a drawing near the end of the quest timeline, leaving six heroes to walk away with a crystal!
You can only have your name put in once. No favorites will be considered. Donations can be in the form of gil, labor, or items so long as the worth is specified. The crystals will be guarded by the sweet animals of the Reserve and cannot be stolen. OOCly, the results of the drawing will be announced with the results for the whole plot (see below). Information on how to donate will be in the IC post.
☔ Rain Crystal - Ka'Pandol ☔
Rumor has it that some crystals have fallen to the depths of Ka'Pandol. Unfortunately, this seems like just a rumor as no one's really clambering over themselves in the city for a crystal. Everyone's a lot more concerned with the current flooding due to the dome leaking! Maybe your character can figure out what's going on?
Heroes will be sent on a detective case/community service. If they make the right decisions, they're sure to find an elusive Rain Crystal. That's right, everyone. I made a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure map.
☀️ Sun Crystal - Neg'gi Desert ☀️
Three lalafells who control many of the oases of Neg'gi Desert have started selling the crystals they've found. They refuse to accept less than 10,000,000 gil for each. They're also willing to part with one of their crystals for two others of different types. Any Hero complying with the price will get a crystal.
That said, maybe your character could steal a crystal? After all, the tents the lalafells have set up seem pretty vulnerable at night. If a Hero or group of Heroes has more than three maxed jobs between them, they may have a chance at getting a crystal for free! Be wary, though. If these lalafells catch you, you won't be leaving without a fight. A hard fight.
Going in groups is highly recommended. You can only unlock the fight/steal option if you have more than three maxed jobs between you. If you don't, you'll be caught and quickly tossed out of the area. If you aren't buying a crystal, they're only available as drops/steals from the fight itself, so go in expecting a battle.
❤️ Love Crystal - Sakura Forest ❤️
The Love Crystal seems to be somewhere in the Sakura Forest but where? If a Hero goes with someone they care about and expresses how much they care for them, platonically or otherwise, a crystal for each party member will appear at their feet.
Thread out some fluffy cr, ping me when you're done, and that's it! Newer characters can participate just by making some sweet/positive cr during the thread.
🌵 Arrow Crystal - Cactuar Island 🌵
Cactuars have gathered up the crystals on the island and are now worshipping them! Or just making them the centerpiece to a burning man type party? The verdict's still out. Anyway, when the Heroes arrive, they'll find that the Cactuars don't want to just let their prizes go! But they're not exactly thrilled about fighting in an area where the crystals could be damaged... They'll have to settle this another way. You know what that means!
Any Hero who wins a dance-off with the most pop'n'lockin' Cactuar on the island will be rewarded a crystal. No RNG. No tricks. Just... give me these threads.
🎭 Sword Crystal - Royal City of Myste Aura 🎭
The King and Queen of Myste Aura have lost every entertainer in the castle to this crazy quest. Seeing as how they can't run off on an adventure, too, they're now terribly bored. Characters who arrive at the castle and entertain the royals with a lovely (or horrendous, anything's fine) song or poem, will be awarded one crystal from their treasury... What? They went looking a little bit, too.
The character will have to write the song or poem themselves and can't use a bard or similar ability to get a free pass. The Royals are looking for creativity, after all. If you get a group together, feel free to perform as a band or maybe even put on a short play. It doesn't matter if the final product is awful. Characters will be rewarded just for trying.
🎶 Chime Crystal - Amico Singing Association 🎶
The Amico Singing Association has been overrun by Touch Me's! While all but one of the members have also been turned into frogs, it doesn't really seem like they mind. All the frogs are dancing and having a grand time, especially since the one guy that didn't get frog-ified is belting out a jolly ol' tune to keep the fun rolling! Something about babies and honeys and ragtime gals?
Unfortunately for our Heroes, they came to the Singing Association in the first place because they were told there were crystals here. And there are! The bards have to be healed of their affliction to be able to grant the Heroes a crystal. Don't heal the wrong frog, though, or you'll find yourself with a Touch Me to the face right before being taught the froggy choreography.
This one's based on gambles! The remaining bard will cast libra for everyone and allow characters to see their chances of curing a bard, curing a bard with a crystal, curing another hero who got turned, or being turned themselves! Five bards/Heroes in a row automatically wins a crystal!
👻 Grey Crystal - Ghost City of B'Alesia 👻
There's a story told around campfires of some crystals hidden within the abandoned houses of B'Alesia, the Ghost City. How did they get inside the buildings? No one seems to know. However, it's said that people who go looking for these crystals and enter the buildings start seeing strange, unexplainable things. Apparations and glimpses of someone familiar yet who cannot possibly be in Vaikuntha appear around corners and walk by doorways. The closer a person gets to these crystals, the less these ghosts want to be ignored... But who believes dodgy old horror stories, anyway, right?
Characters are going to have to face their pasts a little bit, confessing something to other characters from their canon who are not in game (and aren't playable, they're just silent ghosts who walk around and LOOK like someone else). Doing so successfully will reward them with a crystal... if the characters don't chicken out first. You can either control the ghost yourself or I can do it for you to add curveballs. Just specify in your IC top-level.
🥚 Egg Crystal - Ruins of Genesis 🥚
A Calamity T-Rex has gathered up a few oval shaped crystals and put them in a soft little pile, almost as if she thinks they're her eggs. Characters can either take the chance and steal a crystal or fight the T-Rex in an impossible and kinda heartbreaking battle. If a battle is chosen, the T-Rex will be distracted at multiple times for characters to swipe an egg- I mean, crystal and retreat. If they continue to fight, they may be seriously injured as the T-Rex won't give up. If characters want to be nice about it, they can leave another crystal behind so the T-Rex won't be suspicious or depressed. It's the kind thing to do, anyway. Otherwise, she'll chase down the characters.
This will be a difficult battle and another one where groups are recommended. You should be able to steal one with an encounter if you have good enough luck. If you do get in a battle, it's recommended you swap one of her Egg Crystals with another you have. If you swipe an Egg Crystal without replacing it with another, she'll chase you down and the battle will continue for a little while. Don't expect to outright win this one without some op Melodies or something. She's tough as nails. Bring potions.
✉️ Chrome Crystal - Von Oktavia ✉️
Mognet has gathered a few crystals and left them on their front desk for heroes to swipe at their leisure. Or that's how things were about two hours before the first character arrives. It looks like a swarm of geezards are in on the action, too! They're absolutely everywhere, cluttering up every room and slowing production down to a halt! Not every geezard has a crystal, but at least 1 out of every 50 does. Their health and stats are low enough for you to take out more than one in a single attack, so it shouldn't be too hard. Right? Time for some spring cleaning, heroes!
🏁 Rainbow Crystal - Cloud City 🏁
Cloud City has gotten in on the Great Race and took it a bit too literally. The city itself has claimed the crystals that fell on their land and will now be holding races around the floating island a few times a day for the duration of the quest. The race track is around the outer edge of the floating island and characters will need to borrow some very odd vehiclesis that a pod racer? to enter the competition. Whoever comes in first place wins a Rainbow Crystal.
There'll be a set number of races depending on how many characters sign up. A character can only enter a single race, so they only get one shot. Their choices and actions during the race (because this race is won the dirty way, incentivized bytusken raiders) will dictate who wins and who gets owned. Sign-ups for the Rainbow Race are in the comments below and close on the 7th @ noon cst!
🐹 Plasma Crystal - Rodent Island 🐹
A scholarly hamster has found a few crystals lying around. He's talked to his buddies and will allow characters to arrive at the island one at a time. Whoever answers these questions three will receive a crystal. Whoever fails will have to play chicken with his brother Flash, the dangerously rolling hamster o' lore. Upon failing, the character can then either run for their lives or temporarily become a projectile from the sheer force of the hamster ball sailing them back into the sea. No mere Hero can defeat Flash at chicken.
The questions will be randomized, some difficult and some easy, many of them about trivia from MoL/MoE. Some particularly easy questions may include "What is your name?" while some difficult questions might include "What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?" No two characters will get the same three questions, but there might be a few repeated here and there. Just don't even think about stealing them. It won't end well for you.

THE DEETS
+ Characters may have one IC week, but the plot will go on for a bit longer than that OOCly. Winners are set to be announced in the first week of July assuming everything goes smoothly.
+ You can travel in groups to most locations if you don't want to go alone. Groups are recommended for the Sun and Egg Crystals (aka, the big fights).
+ The Curti Center would appreciate one of each kind of crystal but they won't notice if others go missing. If your character wants to keep their gifts, there'll be an option to do that. Keeping or donating the crystals will not affect your final tally.
+ You can collect more than one of the same type of crystal in a few instances. However, only one of each kind will count to the final tally. (If you have three Rain Crystals and one Chime Crystal, it'll count for two in total.) It might be to your advantage to get as many of the same as you can, though.
+ You don't have to do them one at a time. You can tag into as many of the quests as you want from the start. Many of them will be very quick to finish or easy to react to. Just go at whatever pace is comfortable for you.
+ I'll tag all threads I'm interacting with at least once a day, if not more. In the case of group threads, they'll be done either once every three days or when everyone involved has responded, whichever's faster. Just be sure to list everyone in your group from the get-go so I don't accidentally skip people.
+ This event will net you 100xp. The IC post will go up on the 8th.
